Health Guarantee

Who we are

We are more than just a service, and our relationship with you continues well beyond the day your puppy comes home. We are puppy lovers ourselves and wish nothing would ever go wrong with any puppy, but a puppy’s health is dependent on a number of factors like genetics, exercise, food & nourishment, and overall care that are not always within our control. While we can’t guarantee that your puppy will never have a health problem, we can promise we will do our best to ensure your new family member is healthy from the moment he or she arrives home!

Health Guarantee

We stand behind the health of every Dacshund puppy we place. Each puppy is guaranteed to be free of infectious diseases for 2 weeks and free from genetic defects for up to 1 year. All puppies leave our home in excellent health, with no known physical issues. Buyers are required to have their puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 14 days of pickup. Conditions influenced by diet, weight, or exercise are not covered under this guarantee. In the rare case of a genetic issue or loss after 2 years of age, we offer a 50% credit toward a future puppy (with veterinary confirmation).

Please note: this guarantee does not cover veterinary expenses.

What we test for

Every breeding dog in our program undergoes comprehensive DNA testing prior to being included in our breeding program. This allows us to identify genetic traits and health risks before making breeding decisions. Our program specifically screens for many breed-relevant conditions, including:

  • PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy).
  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM).
  • Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI).
  • Lafora Disease
  • Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL)
  • Cord1-PRA
  • CDDY/IVDD risk markers
  • Additional dachshund-specific inherited conditions

Spinal Screening Program

Because back health is critically important in dachshunds, all sires and dams in our breeding program undergo spinal radiographic screening once they reach two years of age.

These evaluations help identify calcifications and provide additional information that assists us in making responsible long-term breeding decisions aimed at improving the future health of the breed.
